Interior Designer (Junior–Intermediate)
Interiors by Popov is seeking an Interior Designer (Junior to Intermediate level) to join our Bellevue-based studio.
This role is suited for someone who is not only passionate about design, but deeply invested in how spaces function, feel, and perform in real life. At IBP, design is not driven by trends – it is driven by intention, spatial clarity, and a strong understanding of how people live in their
homes.
We are a small, highly collaborative team working on residential and boutique commercial projects. Our work spans from early concept through construction and installation, with a strong emphasis on thoughtful space planning, technical execution, and seamless coordination.
The Role
As an Interior Designer at IBP, you will be involved in all phases of the design process, working alongside the Principal and team from concept through installation.
Depending on experience level, you will take on increasing responsibility in managing projects, developing design solutions, and coordinating with clients, vendors, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of residential projects from concept through completion
- Develop space plans, layouts, and design concepts that are both functional and refined
- Prepare presentations including drawings, material palettes, and FF&E selections
- Produce detailed AutoCAD drawings (plans, elevations, cabinetry, and interior details)
- Source materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings aligned with the project vision
- Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and trades throughout the project lifecycle
- Support and/or lead communication with clients, architects, and general contractors
- Assist with project management tasks including budgets, timelines, and documentation
- Participate in site visits, field coordination, and installation days
Experience Level Expectations
- Junior Designer (2–3 years experience)
- Supports design development, sourcing, and documentation
- Builds technical proficiency in AutoCAD and construction detailing
- Assists with client presentations and vendor coordination
- Growing confidence in communication and project involvement
- Intermediate Designer (3+ years experience)
- Leads portions of projects with increasing independence
- Confidently communicates with clients, vendors, and contractors
- Owns drawing sets, specifications, and coordination efforts
- Demonstrates strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or related field
- 2–5+ years of experience in residential interior design
- Experience working on projects involving construction is preferable
- Strong spatial awareness and ability to think in plan, section, and elevation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required
- Experience with SketchUp, Photoshop, or rendering software is a required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
- In-person position based in Bellevue, WA
- Must have reliable transportation for site visits
