SDC Seeking Visiting Professor in Construction Management

The School of Design + Construction (SDC) at Washington State University is seeking applicants for one full-time, non-tenure track, visiting professor position in Construction Management (CM) with an anticipated start date of August 2021.  This is a 9-month appointment (August 15, 2021 – May 15, 2022). It is expected that candidates will be committed to student success through excellent teaching, mentoring, and program support. The CM program’s emphasis is on student success and industry engagement and is accredited by ACCE.

The Construction Management program is situated within the School of Design + Construction (SDC) which integrates programs in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and construction engineering. The SDC is housed within the Voiland College of Engineering & Architecture, providing access and potential collaborations with faculty and students in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science. Position Details

Course Load

4 to 6 courses (split between fall & spring semesters) depending on qualifications and/or expertise.  Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses for the CM program in the following areas – Materials & Methods, Construction Graphics, Contract Administration & Documentation, Project Management & Leadership, Planning & Scheduling, and BIM (Virtual Design & Construction).

Other Duties

The successful candidate is expected to participate in service work via committees in the CM program and/or SDC, mentor students, and participate in the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accreditation process. There is an opportunity to renew the visiting professor contract beyond the 9 months depending on availability of funds and work performance.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Construction Management or related field by the start of appointment and a minimum of six years of experience which can be achieved via a mix of industry experience and teaching at the university level in a construction (or related) program.
