The National Park Service Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation is pleased to offer an 11-week Cultural Landscape Preservation Resource Assistant internship in partnership with the Latino Heritage Internship Program.
The intern will serve as a member of a team working to prepare the Cultural Landscape Report for Liberty Island in New York Harbor, home to the Statue of Liberty and a site of inspiration and deep meaning to people across the globe.
This internship is a Direct Hire Authority position, which affords the successful applicant non-competitive hiring status within the Department of the Interior for two years after both successful completion of the internship and graduation from an institution of higher education.

Minute Man National Historical Park
Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord-Lincoln-Lexington, Massachusetts is offering an exciting 12-week summer internship in partnership with the Greening Youth Foundation and National Park Service Geological Resources Division Mosaics In Science Program.
The internship will focus on documenting rare plant and turtle species in the park, utilizing Global Positioning and Geographical Information Systems (GPS and GIS) to record field data, and developing management strategies to protect these species. Additional information is included in the attachment.

National Park Service – Landscape Architecture Intern
The Steward will work with the maintenance division to provide critical assistance in the design and rehabilitation of cultural landscapes. There are multiple cultural landscapes under the jurisdiction of NACE. These landscapes include historic designed landscapes, historic sites, and ethnographic landscapes; and their maintenance and preservation is imperative to the mission of the National Park Service. These landscapes are in need of attention, preservation maintenance, and renovation. The Steward selected for this assignment will work to produce design documents, written proposals, and visual aids that are intended to be used for such purposes. The expected result will be designs and plan drawings that will be used for public scoping, as well as maintenance plans for the restoration of existing landscapes.
Term of positions is 47 weeks; full-time commitment 5-days per week located in Washington DC. The living allowance is $510/week with eligibility for an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of the program. Value of education award is $5,775.00 (pre-tax). Position requires Bachelor’s degree in related field such as community/regional planning, recreation management, or landscape architecture and will start in early December, 2017.
