Michael Sánchez teaches design studios as well as classes on construction technology and drawing as a “thinking” tool for designers.  He has practiced landscape architecture for the last 18 years and is licensed in both California and Oregon. Drawing as an instrument of communication and means of expression has always been a passion and one he has inextricably linked to his work in the profession and in his research.  His work on visually exploring Mission Santa Barbara was an opportunity to combine his love of drawing with his fascination and intrigue of history. Visual imagery is very powerful to how we learn, remember and communicate.  His research looks at the art and science of drawing and representation and how designers use these techniques to acquire knowledge, explore a dynamic world and create meaningful places.
