Marti Cowan is licensed to practice architecture in New York State and is a member of the American Institute of Architects. Prior to joining WSU, she practiced as a Senior Associate for New York and Connecticut firms. Her work is published in Margaret Helfand Architects: Evolution Elemental Style Work in Progress. Congruently, she held an adjunct position in the Department of Visual Arts at SUNY Purchase, New York. She is actively involved in architectural design competitions and was awarded first place for the entry entitled, Choragic Monument to Twentieth Century Architecture.

Master of Architecture, Yale University (Recipient of the Sonia Albert Schimberg Prize).

Advanced Studio at the University of Copenhagen (Thesis: Hvittrask, Home of Eliel Saarinen).
