A WSU student team won a People’s Choice Award from the Northern Pacific Chapter of the International Interior Design Association for their project ENYX, which was a corporate office design.
The award recognizes creative and innovative student work from the interior design and architecture community. The project will be showcased at the awards event in Seattle on October 23.
The award-winning project design was for a corporate office for a sports apparel company in Tokyo, Japan.

The students focused their project idea on a phoenix rising from the ashes, “symbolizing an athlete striving to reach their full potential,” according to their submission.
As part of the project, the students organized the workspace design to mirror the stages of the phoenix, including ash, smoke, flame, and phoenix zones. The ash zones provided space for workers to do individual tasks, while the ‘smoke’ areas facilitate quiet collaboration. The flame zones work as high-energy hubs for team collaboration, and the phoenix zones served as vibrant community spaces to strengthen team bonds.
The project team included Kayla Turner, Kira Lenzi, and Lily Hendrickson, who are seniors in the interior design program.
