Dear School of Design + Construction Family,
We are officially into our 3rd semester of distance education. For the first time since late February 2020, we have a handful of classes meeting in hybrid face to face and virtual formats as we slowly migrate back to campus. The dedication of the faculty, staff and students to learning in the midst of this pandemic is remarkable. I am so grateful to be able to work with wonderfully committed individuals in what I can only describe as a family. And that family does not end at the Pullman campus, but extends throughout the state, region and wherever design and construction Cougs reside.
While the pandemic has negatively impacted university budgets, our student enrollments are holding strong and industry involvement continues through virtual engagement. We had a large university career fair and school specific design career fair this past fall semester. We had dozens of guest speakers come into class and will continue to reach out to include you in our courses, competitions and projects. We look forward to your additional engagement during our end of year events in May 2021 regardless of the format of live or virtual.
Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. Your contributions to the School of Design + Construction Excellence Funds have helped to support students in need and our initiatives that have been affected by budget cuts. We invite you to continue to give.
Onward and Upward!
Ryan E. Smith
