In addition to a robust teaching load, Carrie Vielle also serves as the SDC Gallery and Archives Manager, SDC Student Connection Committee Chair, the Materials Resource Lab Manager, and Faculty Advisor for the American Society of Interior Designers student chapter.

Vielle’s research interests include museology, curatorial issues, and exhibition design with current focus exploring issues of visitor engagement and protecting viewer experience in memorial museums. Vielle’s professional and personal worlds revolve around travel and the visual arts, having taught visual communication classes for 15 years for an interior design program in Spokane, WA., before joining WSU in 2011.

At WSU, Vielle has delivered courses in interior design studio, design drawing and visual communication, materials of interior design, history of interior design, and world art history; led numerous national and international study tours; and managed gallery design and installation for the SDC. For tireless efforts to promote the SDC, together with remarkable talent for teaching, Vielle has earned the outstanding faculty award for the interior design program over several years.
