Biography
As an assistant professor (career track), Jaime teaches a new student seminar course to enhance interpersonal communication, leadership, and team skills that introduce modules for success as an SDC student, as well as integrated travel courses and electives in social justice related to her areas of research.
In her role as academic program manager, Jaime provides support for academic program operations for the school’s undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs.
A descendant of the Yakama Nation and Nisqually tribes in Washington State, Jaime’s research interests examine the historical and cultural perspective of the built environment related to public memory and collective identity through an indigenous feminist lens. In research and teaching, she strives to create learning opportunities for students to embrace their capacity and responsibility to address social justice in the built environment.
Jaime threw javelin for the Track & Field team (’94 -’96) and has worked full-time for WSU since 1998. She was awarded VCEA Employee of the Year in 2018 and has also been honored with VCEA Staff Excellence in 2014, and WSU Spokane Administrative Professional Employee Excellence in 2010.
