Steve Austin’s professional experience spans over 25 years as an award-winning land planner and designer, town and regional planner, land use attorney, and community organizer. Steve has also served many years as an adjunct professor of urban design, landscape architecture and planning for at the University of Kentucky. Steve has managed his own design and planning business, led a government planning commission in one of the fastest growing communities in the USA, been CEO of a regional planning organization in a 700,000 population metropolitan area, and helmed community-focused non-profits. Steve has shaped progressive land use policies for numerous communities, built mixed-use, walkable neighborhoods, created beautiful gardens and urban spaces, and added economic value and quality of life for citizens. Steve is committed to utilizing landscape architecture to increase environmental and community resilience as well as social justice.
