We. Are. SDC: See the story behind the school

Shot largely over the spring 2016 semester on his iPhone, the video linked below was created by SDC alumnus Kyle Redzinak (M.Arch ’16), to give prospective students and visitors an inside look at the School of Design and Construction.

The video has been well received by those with ties to the SDC, including recent alumni, current students, industry professionals, and those involved with the colleges’ marketing and recruitment efforts.

Jason Clapp, M.Arch class of 2004, in response to seeing the video on the school’s Facebook page comments, “Great to see all of the great work still being done, and proud of the continued collaborative environment of the program.”

Another recent alumae, Heather Field (class of 2014) says “This is so good! It really captures everything that makes the SDC so special!! I miss everyone! GO COUGS!”

Current interior design students featured in the video were thrilled to see they “made the cut” and are excited to be able to share their experiences and enthusiasm for their program and for the school.

Professional organizations are taking notice as well. AIA Spokane says “A great window into the SDC program at WSU. Feel free to share, especially if you’re an alumnus.”

In response to being able to make the video, Redzinak says “I have had some of the best moments of my life being part of the SDC and Washington State University! I couldn’t ask for a better college education and experience, and I am glad I could capture some of the SDC with this video! I really look forward to the rest of my career and what the field of architecture will bring to my life, and what I can bring to architecture.”

The SDC, in the beginning of its fifth year, builds upon longtime disciplinary histories within each of its four programs to create an integrated learning environment worthy of the twenty-first century professions it prepares students to enter. Initiatives, such as the Solar Decathlon, involve students and faculty from the entire school, as well as other departments and programs across the university.
