Students present Solar Decathlon ideas to Seattle practitioners

On March 22, 2016, twenty eight third year undergraduate architecture students, lead by faculty members Omar Al-Hassawi and Darrin Greichen, had their studio mid-reviews at the offices of LMN Architects in Seattle.

The students have been challenged to propose ideas for WSU’s entry to Solar Decathlon 2017. Their proposals were critiqued by professionals from multiple architecture practices in the Seattle area, which included CallisonRTKL, Miller Hull Partnership, Perkins+Will, Suyama Peterson Deguchi, Schemata Workshop, and LMN Architects.

Students received a wide range of constructive feedback; from comments on their general response to the design problem, to their technical abilities and representation. The reviews were followed by site visits to the Perkins School science classroom and the Bullitt Center, both of which have met the living building challenge.

We would like to thank LMN Architects for kindly accepting to host our students. Many thanks to Stacy Smedley and Deborah Sigler for the highly informative tours given to our students during the site visits.
