Reinvented space helps to promote SDC identity in Carpenter Hall

Carrie Vielle, clinical assistant professor for the interior design program, along with her crew of students have been working to reinvent the first floor of Carpenter Hall over the summer break.

Home to the SDC gallery and student lounge, the first floor has received fresh paint, new and re-designed furniture, display areas, and spatial configurations that have transformed the look and feel of the space.

While every part of the re-design will not be complete by the first day of school, and some of what is currently in place is in a “beta” test mode, a great deal is already accomplished and, as the semester progresses, we are looking forward to some new designs, spaces, and shows on the first floor.

We think the changes will create a more open and welcoming environment for the SDC—and the WSU community!
