The School of Design + Construction (SDC) is excited to focus this year on fundraising for the SDC Virtual Laboratory, which will transform Carpenter Hall Room 412.
The lab is intended to support the teaching and learning of emergent digital tools; distance collaboration through high-quality video conferencing; and the presentation of large-format digital media in a multi-disciplinary, interactive setting.
The lab also will provide a dedicated space for all SDC students to engage leading-edge technologies and connect with external partners—enhancing the student experience and advancing the school’s commitment to excellence in outreach and education.
Our ultimate goal for the laboratory is to secure commitments of $56,000 by this coming fall. With a combination of individual donations from school advisory board members, support from companies and firms, and in-kind contributions of furniture, we can have the new lab ready for the start of the spring 2016 semester.
Below is a conceptual rendering of the room, a possible plan, and recent images of SDC students engaging with industry professionals in Seattle in April 2015:
If you would like to join the fundraising effort by making an ongoing pledge or a one-time donation, you can do so by simply using this secure site to give to the Design and Construction Excellence Fund.
We would also appreciate the opportunity to discuss how your company or firm can receive recognition in the new space through combined giving of employees and matching gifts from the company. We have recognition opportunities at $2,500 and $5,000.
We are eager to see the SDC Virtual Laboratory come to fruition. We envision this space as a showcase for the school—one that is befitting of its collaborative and professional educational model.
Thank you, as always, for your support of our school and programs.
