Construction Management and Architecture Programs Collaborate on Senior Capstone Projects

Thanks to all of you who joined us in April for the Construction Management + Architecture Senior Capstone Event and reception at Bell Harbor Convention Center! We had attendees from across all sectors of CM and Architecture join us – thank you for making the night a success! It was great to see new grads, as well as the return of those who have supported us for years.

Both student teams presented well and the judges had a tough time deciding on the top team. The team from Elite Construction + Emerald City Design were the ultimate winners of the competition. The students from that team were:

Patrick Bestebreur (CM)
Jordan Jainga (CM)
Dane Brooks (CM)
Katherine Knutson (Arch)
Kelsey Jancola (Arch)

The runner-up team was Capitol Construction + Capitol Design represented by the following students:

Kelby McCorkle (CM)
Spencer Helfrich (CM)
Jack Williams (CM)
Jaber Alqahtani (Arch)
Nima Safaeian (Arch)

These presentations represented a culmination of students working together under the direction of professors Rick Cherf (construction management) and Greg Kessler (architecture) throughout the spring semester. Presentations were reviewed by industry professionals over two days in Pullman before selecting the finalists for the event in Seattle.

For those of you who were unable to attend know you were missed. We plan to be back in the Puget Sound area next year, so stay tuned!

Sincere thanks to both Vulcan Real Estate Group for providing the project and to Oles Morrison for hosting the reception – our event was made possible largely because of their support.

We would like to give special thanks to our judges for the evening as well as those who traveled to Pullman for the preliminary rounds of judging.
